Four Lasell student-athletes earn GNAC weekly honors

NEWTON, Mass. – Four Lasell College student-athletes were honored Monday by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for their performances in the Laser sports action last week.

Seniors Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I./Mt. Saint Charles Academy) and junior Morgan Choquet (Woonsocket, R.I./Mt. Saint Charles Academy), former high school teammates, were named GNAC Women's Lacrosse Player and Goalie of the Week, respectively, while freshmen James Anderson (Medway, Mass./Medway) and Matt Bischof (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y./Sleepy Hollow) were selected GNAC Men's Lacrosse and Baseball Rookies of the Week, respectively.

A senior midfielder, McComb recorded 16 goals, three assists and 19 points in a 3-0 week for Lasell, while also collecting 13 ground balls, 14 draw controls and six caused turnovers. She scored her 100th career goal in Thursday's win over Nichols as part of a seven-goal game, and she tallied six goals and two assists in Lasell's GNAC win over Colby-Sawyer.

McComb now has 23 goals and 29 points on the season, ranking second in the GNAC in goals and third in points. She also leads the GNAC with 26 ground balls and ranks sixth in the conference with 21 draw controls and nine caused turnovers.

A junior goalie, Choquet posted a 3-0 record, a 9.32 goals against average, a 50.9 save percentage and 28 saves in a 3-0 week. She made 10 saves in an overtime victory over Washington & Jefferson, and made 11 saves on 19 shots in Lasell's GNAC win over Colby-Sawyer.

Choquet leads the GNAC with five victories and ranks fifth in save percentage with a 47.6 mark and seventh in goals against average with a 10.19 mark.

A freshman attackman, Anderson collected six points on five goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Lasers. He tallied three goals and one assist in a 12-5 win over Eastern Connecticut, and notched two goals in a GNAC victory over Regis.

Anderson ranks third on the team with eight goals this season fourth on the team with 10 points. The rookie also stands 16th in the GNAC in goals scored.

A freshman designated hitter/catcher, Bischof batted .476 (10-for-21) with four RBI and three runs scored in a 4-3 week for the Lasers on their spring trip to Florida. He hit safely in six of the seven games, and had a four-hit game in a win over Finlandia University (Michigan). He also walked twice to finish the week with a .542 on-base percentage.

Bischof is off to an outstanding start to his rookie year, leading the team with a .478 batting average (11-of-23) and a .538 on-base percentage. He ranks sixth in the GNAC in batting and seventh in on-base percentage.
