Pino Earns Second GNAC Player of the Week Honors

NEWTON, Mass. (4/10/17) -- For the second time this season, sophomore Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) of the Lasell College women's lacrosse team was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Pino played in all three games this week as the Lasers went 2-1, earning road wins at Simmons and Rivier before falling just short to Johnson & Wales. She scored 13 goals to reach an even 30 for the season, ranking fifth in the GNAC, while also adding four assists for 17 points.

She scored five points in each of Lasell's wins during the week, including a five-goal effort at Rivier. Three days later against JWU, Pino added six more to her goal total and tied a season-high with seven points. In that three-game span, Pino also picked up eight ground balls and caused a turnover.

Pino has scored five or more goals in four different games this spring and has already set career-highs in numerous offensive categories, including doubling her 15 goals from all of last season as she played in just 10 games.

The Lasers return to action on Wednesday, April 12, hosting Norwich at 4:00 p.m.
