Women's Lacrosse Storms Past Rivier 15-3

NASHUA, N.H. (4/6/17) – Four different players from the Lasell women's lacrosse team registered a hat trick in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory at Rivier University Wednesday evening at Raider Field. The 15-3 win keeps the Lasers untouched in conference play at 3-0 while moving to 6-3 overall, while the Raiders fall to 0-2 in the GNAC and 1-7 this season.

Sophomore Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) scored five goals for the second time this season to lead all players on Raider Field, and grabbed four ground balls and two draw controls. Lasell leading scorer Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) scored three goals in the winning effort, joining Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) and Amanda Brock (North Haven, Conn.) for the remainder of the multi-goal outings. Jillian Vergados (Tyngsboro, Mass.) accounted for the last of Lasell's offensive with a goal, her fourth of the season.

Seniors Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) and Brooke Bergeron (Lynn, Mass.) split time 50/50 in the cage, as Delaney earned the win (6-3) with eight saves and just two goals against. Bergeron followed with seven saves in 30 minutes of relief.

Delaney and Bergeron combined for a 15-14 advantage in saves total for the Lasers, while Lasell also held a 9-7 margin in draw controls, and a 39-22 gap in shots.

The Lasers will host Johnson & Wales University, a team that is 2-0 in the GNAC and last year's GNAC Championship host, on Saturday, April 8 at 12:00 p.m. The Raiders also return to action on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tilt at Saint Joseph's Maine.
