Lasers Cruise Past Nichols 15-5

DUDLEY, Mass. (3/13/17) – The Lasell College women's lacrosse team saw seven different players score in a 15-5 non-conference victory over Nichols College Monday afternoon at Vendetti Field. The Lasers win their second straight contest and advance to 3-1 so far this season.

Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) led the Lasers' attack with five goals after a six-goal performance last week against Curry. The recently named GNAC player of the week also won three draw controls, and scooped up a pair of ground balls.

Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) followed just behind Pino with four goals, four assists, and a game-high seven draw controls. Maria Vasiliadis (Worcester, Mass.) and Megan Palumbo (Southington, Conn.) each scored a goal, while the freshmen class of Brooke Landry (New Milford, Conn.), Amanda Brock (North Haven, Conn.), and Chloe Shugrue (Worcester, Mass.) each got on the board as well.

Despite Nichols being the first team to score, the Lasers scored 10 goals in the first half – four from Pino – to lead the hosts 10-3 at the half. Senior keeper Brooke Bergeron (Lynn, Mass.) took over for Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) in the second half of action, keeping the Bison at bay with five stops for the 15-5 final.

The Lasers held a 24-17 advantage in shots, while neither team was able to capitalize on the free position attempts.

Delaney (3-1) earned the win in between the pipes for Lasell with three saves in 30 minutes of action.

Lasell returns to their home turf on Saturday, March 18 when it hosts Emerson College at 12:00 p.m.
