Women's Lacrosse Downs Albertus 19-1

NEWTON, Mass. (4/26/16)  - The Lasell College women's lacrosse team scored four times in the first four minutes to set the pace for a 19-1 victory over Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Tuesday afternoon at Grellier Field. The Lasers improve to 9-6 on the year and 5-3 in the GNAC, while the Falcons drop to 1-11 overall and 0-8 in conference play.

Freshman Megan Palumbo (Southington, Conn) scored her first two collegiate goals this afternoon while fellow classmate Jordon McComb (Cumberland, R.I.) tallied two goals of her own. Bridget Doherty (Franklin, Mass.) and Danielle Chambrelli (Cheshire, Conn) both contributed with a hat trick and an assist for the Lasers in the victory.

Senior Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) scored the lone goal for the Falcons, her 14th of the season.

Senior Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) opened up the scoring for the Lasers in the first half on a feed from classmate Stefanie Welch (Hancock, N.H.) just 50 seconds into the game. Doherty scored two of her three goals in the following minutes to bump Lasell's lead, 12-0, before two goals from Chambrelli closed the out the half.

The Lasers tacked on five goals in the final 30 before Jassil broke the shutout on a free position shot.

Lasell starting goal keeper Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) backstopped the Lasers to her third win of the season (3-2), stopping four Falcons shots. Freshman Lexi Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) took the loss (1-10) with five saves for Albertus.

Both teams close out the regular season with a GNAC test on Saturday, April 30, as Lasell hosts Rivier University at 12:00 p.m. for their Senior Day, while Albertus welcomes Mount Ida at 5:00 p.m.
