Women's Lacrosse Powers over Nichols 17-4

NEWTON, Mass. (3/29/16) – The Lasell women's lacrosse team cruised to a 17-4 victory over Nichols College Tuesday afternoon at Grellier Field. The Lasers soar to 5-3 on the year, while the Bison dip to 2-5.

A trio of hat tricks powered the Lasers' attack, led by senior Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.), sophomore Danielle Chambrelli (Cheshire, Conn.) and freshman Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.). Freshman Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I.) added a pair of goals and two draw controls, while senior Bridget Munnelly (Bellingham, Mass.) scooped up a game-high five draws. Seniors Lisi Anczok (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Stefanie Welch (Hancock, N.H.) and junior Maria Vasiliadis (Worcester, Mass.) also added a single marker in the victory, their first of the season.

Senior Alexa Smith (Salem, N.H.) added two markers for the Bison, while classmate Meghan Dombkowski (Sagaponack, N.Y.) and junior Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) scored once in the setback.

The Lasers scored a quick four unassisted goals in an eight-minute frame for the 4-0 lead, before Dombkowski found the back of the net on a man-up goal after a check to the head penalty from the Lasers. The Bison wouldn't find the twine until the second half, as the Lasers ended the stanza with an 8-0 run, highlighted by two goals from Pechulis.

Smith and Marion teamed up for the three remaining goals for the Bison, but could not catch up to the Lasers as they poured in five goals of their own.

Junior Brooke Bergeron (Swampscott, Mass.) earned the win in between the pipes for Lasell (5-3) with six saves, while junior Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) recorded one save in second-half relief.  Suffering the loss in net for the Bison was junior Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine), who allowed 15 goals in 49 minutes of play.

The Lasers resume conference action on Saturday, April 2 as they head to crosstown rival Mount Ida College at 12:30, while the Bison travel to Connecticut College on Thursday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m.
