Hot First Half Sends Emerson Over Women's Lacrosse 11-6

BOSTON, Mass –Seven unanswered goals in the first half lifted the Emerson women's lacrosse team over the visiting Lasell College Lasers 11-6 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Rotch Field. The Lasers shift to 1-1 this season while the Lions rise to 2-0.

Meredith Weber opened the game with the first two goals for the Lions. Riding the momentum Emily Quinn went on to score four straight goals to give the Lions a 6-0 lead. With 50 seconds left in the opening half, Weber scored her final goal of the game. The half ended with the Lions holding a 7-0 lead over the Lasers.

Early in the second sophomore half sophomore Danielle Chambrelli (Cheshire, Conn.) put the Lasers on the board with an unassisted goal for the visitors' first tally. Both offenses were silent for nearly 10 minutes until Lasell scored again off the stick of senior Taylor Dooley (Barnstable, Mass.), to bring the score up 7-2. Both teams scored several more times, but the early Lions lead kept them ahead with a final score of 11-6.

Splitting time in the cage for Emerson was Kristina Modica and Victoria Kanaris. Modica played in the first half, only seeing one shot on goal and keeping the Falcons scoreless. Kanaris took over in the second and made 6 saves on 12 shots.

Junior Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) made six saves on 13 shots in the first half, while Brooke Bergeron (Swampscott, Mass.) made four saves on eight shots in second-half relief.
The Lasers will face Plymouth State on March 14th during their Spring Break trip to Puerto Rico, while the Lions return to action on March 8th against Nazareth College at 7:00 p.m
