Yandow Shines in 15-5 GNAC Win over Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. (3/14/15) – Freshman Tayor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) tallied four goals and three assists this afternoon to propel the women's lacrosse team to a 15-5 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over River University at Raider Field. With the win, the Lasers even out at 2-2 while the Raiders remain winless at 0-4.

Joining Yandow was junior midfielder Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) with four goals, while senior attack Caitlyn Brecher (Chesire, Conn.) added a hattrick for the Lasers.

Sophomore middy Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, Mass.) led the Raiders with three goals, while freshman midfielder Catherine Connolly (Nashua, N.H.) and sophomore defender Shae O'Connell (Bridgewater, Mass.) added the remaining two points for the hosts.

The Lasers opened the game with five unanswered goals in the first 20 minutes. Connolly put the Raiders on the board off a feed from senior middy Savannah Neuwirt (Newbury, N.H.) with 16:34 on the clock, but the visitors fired in five goals before the halftime whistle.  With 1:48 left in the first half, Pechulis capitalized on the man-up advantage, finishing a pass from Chambrelli to head into the final 30 with a 12-1 cushion.

Following an unassisted goal by Yandow in the second stanza, Wickens scored back-to-back goals for the Raiders on two free position opportunities. With 8:57 left in regulation, junior midfielder Bridget Munnelly (Bellingham, Mass.) scooped up a ground ball to assist Brecher on her third goal of the afternoon, giving the Lasers the 15-3 lead.

The Raiders snapped back with two straight goals by Wickens and O'Connell, but the effort came up short as the Lasers closed the game with the 15-5 victory.

Both teams jump back into home-contest GNAC action this Wednesday, March 18.  The Lasers will take on Simmons College at 4:00 p.m., while the Raiders play under the lights against Norwich University with a 7:00 p.m. start.
