PROVIDENCE, R.I. (3/22/14) – The Lasell College women's lacrosse team picked up their second Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory in as many tries this season with a 16-8 road victory over Johnson and Wales University on Saturday afternoon. The Lasers improved to 4-3 on the year and 2-0 in league action while JWU slid to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in conference contests.

Britney Wuorio (Bolton, Mass.) set a new career-high with 11 points in the game for Lasell, scoring six goals and assisting on five others on the afternoon. Lasell jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the opening 10 minutes of the first half behind a trio of goals from Minnelli and a goal and three assists from Wuorio. The two teams traded goals over the remainder of the opening half, as Lasell took a 9-5 lead into the half.

Minnelli scored on a feed from Brecher to make it a 10-5 lead but DiCocco answered right back for JWU to trim the Lasers lead to 10-6 with 27:47 to play in the game. Lasell put the game out of reach by scoring the next five goals unanswered to push their lead to 15-6 with just under 15 minutes remaining. A pair of DiCocco goals for JWU sandwiched a Minnelli tally and the Lasers took home the 16-8 victory.

Lasell will square off against Norwich on Tuesday March 25th at 4:00 p.m. in Northfield, Vt. before returning home for a 12:00 p.m. game against Simmons College on Saturday March 29th.
