Women's Lacrosse Handles Salem State

Newton, Mass. (3/20/13) - The Lasell College women's lacrosse team defeated Salem State 23-4 in a non-conference match-up at Grellier Field. The win was the fourth on the season for the Lasers, who improved to 4-2 on the season while Salem slipped to 1-1 overall in 2013.

Britney Wuorio (Bolton, Mass.) scored a game-high seven goals, and added an assist in the victory. Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, Mass.) added four goals and three assists for the Lasers, and Bridget Doherty (Franklin, Mass.) finished with a career-high four goals while handing out an assist. Taylor Dooley (Barnstable, Mass.) chipped in a career-high three goals and Rebecca Stanton (Agawam, Mass.) added a pair of goals and an assist.

Bridgett Dullea (Peabody, Mass.) scored three goals for the Vikings and Rachel Clasby (Northbridge, Mass.) added a goal in the loss.

Sammy Long (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned the victory for Lasell in goal, stopping three shots on the afternoon. Alex Varoutsos (Woburn, Mass.) took the loss in net for Salem State. 

Lasell scored the first nine goals of the game on their way to a 17-2 lead at the half, and out-scored the visitors 6-2 in the second stanza for the 23-4 victory. 

Salem State will host Colby-Sawyer on Friday Mar. 22nd at 6:00 p.m. and the Lasers will return to Grellier Field on Saturday Mar. 23rd at 12:00 p.m. for a GNAC match-up against Emmanuel College.
