Women's Lacrosse Brings Home 6 All-GNAC Honors

The Lasell College women's lacrosse program received six All-GNAC honors, as both players and coaches alike were honored. Sophomore Britney Wuorio (Bolton, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Year and a member of the conference's first team. She led the league in goals with 84 and tied teammate Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, Mass.) for the GNAC lead in assists with 33.

Slattery received All-GNAC first team honors after tallying 74 goals, good for second in the GNAC. Slattery also finished second in the GNAC in groundballs (69) and draw controls (97).

Freshman defender Abbi Scrutchfield (Portland, Maine) and freshman goalkeeper Alexa Katsigianis (Amherst, N.H.) were named to the All-GNAC second team. Scrutchfield, started all 18 games on defense for the Lasers, collecting 11 groundballs and causing seven turnovers.

Katsigianis finished second in the GNAC in goals against average at 9.38 per game, while stopping a league best 165 shots on the year.

Second-year head coach, Cait Connolly was honored by her fellow coaches as the 2012 GNAC Coach of the Year. She led her team to a program best 15-3 record, including an 8-1 GNAC finish and a second straight appearance in the conference championship game.
