WBB: Lasers Win Second Straight Road Game With Second Half Comeback

Henniker, NH - The Lasell women's basketball team traveled to New Hampshire on Saturday to face New England College in a conference matchup.

Coming off a win earlier in the week at Emmanuel, the Lasers looked to take their second road game and get to two games over .500. To open the game the Lasers fell behind after NEC found the first two baskets, taking a 4-0 advantage. After drawing back to within a point, 5-6, the Pilgrims then went on a 14-5 run closing the quarter with a 20-10 lead. In the second quarter after falling behind as much as 16, the Lasers were able to chip away a little bit and bring the game back down to within 10, 31-21 going into the halftime break after a low-scoring quarter for both teams.

In the second half, the Lasers erased the Pilgrim's lead entirely by the midway point of the third going on a 13-3 spurt, which was largely in part to freshman guard Alexis Bulson-Cuozzo who had 11 of the 13 points over the span drilling 3 triples. After tying the game, the Lasers still wouldn't take their first lead until a pair of Shirle Major free throws gave them a 2-point lead, 44-42. They would go into the fourth down by 1, 45-46. In the fourth quarter the Lasers came out aggressive scoring on their first four offensive trips and going on an 8-0 run to take their largest lead of the game of 7. The Lasers then continued their push going up a dozen, 62-50 and slowly pulling away down the stretch. While the Pilgrims scored the last 6 points of the game to make it 62-56, the Lasers outscored them 17-10 in the final quarter to seal the win.

Four Lasers were in double-figures for the game with Alexis Bulson-Cuozzo and Blaize Mack both posting 11 points, and Juju Nealy and Shirle Major following closely behind with 10 each. Laura Johnson had a huge game on the boards posting 19 rebounds and nearly missed the double-double with 9 points.

Up Next - The Lasers will be back home on Tuesday night to host the Bulldogs of Dean College.
