
Newton, MA - The Lasell women's basketball team faced off against the Falcons of Albertus Magnus on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams came into the game with a 2-0 conference record and looked to improve their record to 3-0. It was Hailey Johnson who helped the Lasers put their first points on the board as she found a layup in the paint. Fast forwarding a couple minutes, the Lasers found themselves down 12-7 after a Falcons run. They then responded with a 5-0 run of their own to tie the game back up at 12 a piece, on a feed from Mia Sullivan-Saunders to Daeserae Williamson. They would end the quarter tied as well 15-15.
The second quarter saw a lot of back and forth as there were 5 lead changes throughout the next ten minutes. Lasell took a slight 28-27 advantage after a free throw but then saw the Falcons end the half on a quick 6-0 stint which gave the Falcons a 33-28 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Lasers were able to bring it to within 2, 35-33 after a Juju Nealy 3-pointer. After this point however, the Falcons had a run in store, as they rattled off 15 straight to push the lead to 17, 50-33. The Lasers would be able to chip away at part of this lead over the next couple minutes, but still found themselves down a dozen going into the fourth.
To start the fourth, the Falcons again were able to boost their lead upping their advantage to 20 a few minutes into the quarter. Having the lead they were able to hold the Lasers off, with the final score of 81-65.
Blaize Mack led the Lasers in scoring on the day with 19 points and also had 8 rebounds. Laura Johnson was a force on the boards with a game-high 16 rebounds on the day. Juju Nealy had a good day shooting from deep with 3 triples and 9 points.
