WBB: Lasers Can't Keep Up With Cadets

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers fell to the Norwich Cadets on Saturday by a final score of 77-54. The loss drops the Lasers to 5-18 overall and 4-12 in GNAC play, while the Cadets are now 9-14 and 5-10.

After the two teams used the first four minutes feeling each other out, the Lasers went on a 13-2 run, punctuated by a Juju Nealy three pointer. This run gave the Lasers a 19-8 lead. The Cadets would finish the quarter by scoring the final eight points, meaning the Lasers held a 19-16 lead going into the second. The teams traded baskets for the first four minutes of the second quarter, as the Lasers held a 23-22 lead after a Brenna Graber layup. Six straight points from the Cadets put them on top by five, and they would hold a 32-28 lead headed into halftime after Juju Nealy hit a buzzer beating jumper.

The Lasers got within one in the third at 35-34, and were down 40-38 when the Cadets hit a three pointer that gave them some breathing room. That basket was the start of a 12-2 run that gave the Cadets control and their biggest lead to that point of the game. Norwich would take a 54-42 lead into the fourth. Brenna Graber opened the fourth with a three pointer to get the Lasers within single digits, but that would be the closest they got, as the Cadets would go on to win 77-54.

Juju Nealy led the way with 16 points off the bench, while Brenna Graber scored 14 points. Defensively, Kaitlyn Antonucci led the Lasers with three steals and a block. Jasmine DePina led the team with eight rebounds.
