WBB: Lasers Upend Regis on Road

Weston, MA - The Lasell Lasers defeated the Regis Pride by a final score of 57-46 on Wednesday night. The win moves the Lasers to 5-17 on the season, and 4-11 in conference play. The Pride fall to 10-11 and 10-5. The win over the second place Pride moves the Lasers into fifth place in the GNAC South Division, two games behind Johnson & Wales.

The difference in the game proved ro be the first quarter, as they got out to a 7-2 lead midway through the quarter. But the Lasers would really pour things on, as they went on a 13-0 run to take an 18-2 lead, before ultimately taking a 20-4 lead into the second quarter. The second quarter saw the Pride come out shooting, as they would go on an 11-0 run over the first four minutes, making the game 20-15. But the Lasers did not back down, scoring the next five points to push the lead back up to double-digits. The Lasers would lead 25-18 headed into halftime.

Unlink the previous two periods, neither team went on a big run in the third quarter, with the Lasers lead hovering between eight and 12 points for a majority of the quarter. Regis would go on a 6-0 run in the final minute of the period to close the gap to 40-36 headed into the final quarter. A key three-pointer by Juju Nealy with eight minutes left in the game gave the Lasers a seven-point lead. The Pride wouldn't get any closer until they got within five with two minutes remaining. The Lasers would ice the game from the line, shooting 6-8 from the line down the stretch. they would take the game by a score of 57-46.

The Lasers were led by Juju Nealy, who scored 19 points off the bench. Also scoring in double-digits off the bench was Jasmine DePina, as she scored 11. Laura Johnson led the team with seven rebounds. Kaitlyn Antonucci stuffed the stat sheet all over, scoring six points, grabbing four rebounds, dishing out four assists, swatting two blocks, and collecting seven steals. The seven steals were the seventh most in a single game in program history.
