WBB: Lasers Can't Overcome Slow Start Against Regis

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers fell to the Regis College Pride by a score of 77-55 on Tuesday night. The loss drops the Lasers to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play. The Pride are now 5-9 and 5-3.

The difference in the game was the first quarter, as the Pride were able to get out to an early13-2 lead halfway through. They would hold a 23-8 lead at the end of the quarter. They would further extend their lead in the second quarter, and take a 42-21 lead into the break.

The Lasers came out in the second half and showed the same fight that they have all season. They used a 13-2 run to cut the lead down to 12, but the Pride would respond with seven straight points to push the lead back up to 19. They would take a 65-43 lead into the final period. The two teams would trade baskets in a low scoring fourth quarter that saw each team score 12 points.

The Lasers were led by the reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week Shirle Major. The freshman scored 19 points, and had four rebounds and three steals. Also scoring in double digits was Jasmine DePina, as she scored 12 points off the bench. Kaitlyn Antonucci led the team with 11 rebounds for the second straight game.
