WBB: Major Scores Career High 34 Points in Lasers Loss

Providence, RI - The Lasell Lasers Women's Basketball team fell to Johnson & Wales on Thursday night by a score of 84-74. The loss drops the Lasers to 3-9 on the season, and 2-3 in conference play. The Wildcats are now 6-7 and 3-3.

With the Lasers up 7-6 early in the game, the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run, hitting three three-pointers. They would hold onto that lead the rest of the quarter, carrying a 19-13 lead into the second quarter. JWU would extend their lead to as many as 11 in the second quarter, but the Lasers would go on a 10-0 run over the final two and a half minutes of the first half, to bring the score to 35-34 at the break.

Lasell would take a 40-37 lead early in the second half, but JWU took over after that, going on an 11-1 run to take a 48-41 lead. They would then go on another run, this time 11-0, to close out the quarter, and take a commanding 65-47 lead. The Lasers wouldn't go down without a fight though, as they would outscore the Wildcats by 10 in the fourth quarter, but it proved to not be enough.

The Lasers were led by Shirle Major's career high 34 points, 16 of which came in the fourth quarter. Major and Brooke Damboise led the team with seven rebounds each. Juju Nealy also scored in double digits with 14.
