WBB: Lasers Hang Tight Until End

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers fell to the Saint Joseph's (ME) Monks by a score of 75-58 on Saturday. The loss drops the Lasers to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Monks are now 7-3 and 2-0.

After the two teams traded baskets at the start of the game, the Monks ended the quarter on a 10-2 run to hold a 20-9 lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Lasers get the lead down to as few as two, using an 11-2 run to start the quarter. But the Monks would use an 11-2 run of their own to close the half, and take a 38-26 lead into the break.

The third quarter was where the Lasers started to turn things around. They would battle, and get the lead down to four headed into the fourth quarter.

After the Lasers opened the final period with a shot to make the game 50-48 Monks, the visiting Monks would go on a 12-0 run to take control of the game. the Monks would coast the rest of the way, eventually taking the 75-58 win.

The Lasers were led by Juju Nealy's 20. Right behind her was Shirle Major with 15. Brooke Dambroise led the team with five assists.

Up Next - The Lasers will take the next three weeks off for break before returning for a January 3rd game against Elms. That game will start at 5:30pm in the Athletic Center.
