NEWTON, Mass. – The top player on the Lasell University women's basketball team was recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on Monday for her outstanding performance during the 2019-20 campaign.

Senior Amanda Ortiz (Newton, Mass./Newton North) represented the Lasers with selection to the All-GNAC Second Team. The All-Conference Teams are selected by a vote of the GNAC's 12 head coaches.

Senior Dana Ross (East Haven, Conn./East Haven) was also named as Lasell's representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

A 5-8 guard, Ortiz averaged 20.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.4 blocked shots and 3.4 steals in her 23 games this season. She shot 43 percent from the field (166-of-386), making 22 three-point shots, and converted 72.5 percent from the free throw line (111-of-153). Ortiz finished third in the GNAC in scoring average, seventh in rebounding, and fifth in blocked shots while topping the conference in steals.

She scored in double figures in all 23 games, and tallied at least 20 points in 15 games. She ranked 15th in the NCAA Division III in steals per game and 20th in points per game.

Lasell finished the season with a 10-14 overall record under sixth-year head coach Todd Montana, finishing tied for ninth in the GNAC with a 3-8 mark. The 10 victories were the most in a season for Lasell since the 2015-16 group finished 12-14.
