WBK: Lasers fall to Pine Manor; Markland scores 12 points

NEWTON, Mass. – The Lasell University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference game Saturday afternoon against Pine Manor College in the Athletic Center.

The Lasers fall to 10-13 overall while the Gators improve to 6-12 overall.

Junior Devyn Markland (Derby, Conn.) scored 12 points and grabbed a total of eight rebounds in the loss. Junior Meg Carroll (Douglas, Mass.) provided a lift off the bench with eight points and six rebounds for the Lasers.

Junior Kierra Jackson (Pikesville, Md.) led the way for the Gators with 28 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Freshman Mandy Mastropasqua (Portland, Maine) finished with 14 points while junior Nandi Eskridge (Pacifica, Calif.) added 13 points in the win.

The Lasers jumped out to a 6-0 lead before a three from freshman Telaisha Solier (Lawrence, Mass.). The Gators held a 13-9 lead after the first quarter.

The visitors extended their lead to 22-14 after a free-throw from Jackson. The Lasers stayed close before the break, only trailing by eight at the end of the second quarter.

The Lasers were outscored 26-4 in the third quarter as Jackson scored nine of her 28 points in the period. The Gators would go on to control the fourth quarter and leave with a 66-31 victory.

The Lasers will play their final regular season game against Emmanuel College on Tuesday, February 18 at 6 p.m.
