WBK: Lasell rolls past Lesley; Team effort leads to victory for Lasers

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Lasell University women's basketball team used an all-around team effort to post a 71-31 victory over Lesley University Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game played at Medford High School.

The Lasers shot a season-high 51.8 percent from the field (29-of-58), including a season-best 58.8 percent from three-point range (10-of-17). Twelve different Lasers got into the scoring column, led by senior Amanda Ortiz (Newton, Mass.) with 12 points, senior D'Asia Allen (Providence, R.I.) with nine, and sophomore Ali Fleischer (Westwood, Mass.) with eight. Thirteen Lasers got at least 10 minute of playing time.

Senior Hope Seasholes (Tuscon, Ariz.) was the high scorer for Lesley, finishing with 11 points.

Lasell jumped out to a 10-1 lead four minutes into the game, and went on to lead 18-3 at the end of the first quarter. The Lynx pulled to within 26-12 midway through the second frame, but the Lasers pulled away to a 32-12 lead at the intermission.

The visitors opened the second half with a 13-2 surge to take a commanding 45-14 lead and the Lynx never threatened the rest of the way.

The Lasers are back on the court this Tuesday, December 10, with a non-conference game at Emerson College at 6 p.m. Lesley is now on semester break and will return to action with a home game on Saturday, January 4, against Becker College.
