Women's Basketball Chosen 9th by GNAC Coaches in Preseason Voting

NEWTON, Mass. (11/13/13) - The Lasell College women's basketball team was voted ninth out of 13 teams by the coaches in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference coaches in their preseason voting. The Lasers finished the 2012-13 season with a 10-15 record overall and a 4-8 mark in GNAC play.

Lasell will look to blend a core of returning players with a few new faces as they look to continue the program's upward trajectory. The Lasers have increased their win total from 1 to 4 to 10 over the last three seasons and are hoping to claim the program's first ever GNAC tournament bid.

Seven-time defending GNAC champions Emmanuel College were voted first in the conference's preseason poll, receiving 11 out of 12 first place votes and 143 out of 144 total points in the voting. Suffolk University was selected second by the coaches, narrowly edging out St. Joseph's College (Maine) who was third.

The Lasers will open their 2013-14 season on Friday November 15th at 6:00 p.m. whe they travel to Gordon College for the Fighting Scots Tip-off Tournament with Drew University and New England College. Aside from their 11 game GNAC schedule the women will host Newbury College, Nichols College, Westfield State, Western New England, Eastern Nazarene, Pine Manor and New England College. Lasell's out of conference road schedule features trips to Daniel Webster College, Wentworth, Plymouth State, Keene State and Fitchburg State.
