
NEW HAVEN, CT- Kayla Vincelette (Westport, MA) produced a notable performance scoring a game and season-high 26 points for the Lasell College women's basketball team, yet the Albertus Magnus Falcons defeated the Lasers 83-65 on Monday afternoon.
Vincelette tallied her points on 10-of-16 shooting, adding five free throws and one three-pointer. The rookie guard also picked off four steals and handed out two assists. Senior guard Tracy Elwell (Watertown, MA) connected on 6-of-12 shot attempts, scoring a career-best 13 points and sophomore guard Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, MA) and sophomore forward Kim Archibald (Lewiston, ME) chipped in with nine points each. Archibald also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Falcons used a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures to take the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest. Freshman guard Lianna Carrero (Hamden, CT/Hamden) had a team high 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists with freshman guard Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, CT/Lyman Hall) adding 19 points including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Senior forward Bianca Brown (West Haven, CT/Career) scored 16 points, adding 10 rebounds and two blocks for the Falcons. Sophomore guard Shanilya Bush (New Haven, CT/Wilbur Cross) put up 10 points and a game high seven assists.
The Lasers trailed by just 13 at halftime, 43-30, but the Falcons extended their lead to 24 quickly in the second period. Albertus snaps a three game losing streak and improves to 6-7, 1-3 GNAC while Lasell drops to 1-13, 0-4 GNAC.
The Lasers' next contest is Thursday, January 20th when they will face non-conference foe Keene State College at 5:30 p.m. in the Athletic Center.
