Curry’s Balanced Offensive Attack Bests Women’s Hoops

Even with Tricia Culver (N. Hampton, Mass.) and Shauna Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) each producing a game-best fourteen points apiece for Lasell, the Colonels of Curry College used a balanced attack to secure a 67-54 win over the lasers.

The Colonels jumped out to a sixteen point lead before JoAnna Bishop (S. Burlington, VT) netted a bucket to start the Lasers' offense.  Lasell secured most of their first half points from the line, with Katie Farr (Rindge, NH) and Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, Mass.) converting on 9 out of 10 freebies.  The Colonels stretched their lead to twenty heading into the break, with Danyel Cousins (Brunswick, ME) and Christina Sancinito (Wakefield, Mass.) guiding the way.  Cousins led with six points in the half and Sancinito pulled down 11 boards.

The iron was kinder to Lasell in the second stanza, as Kelly scored all fourteen points of her points in the second half.  Culver also went 2-4 from the field and 7-8 from the line in the second for 11 points.  The Lasers trailed by as many as 23 points before managing to cut the lead to just eleven in the final minute.

Driscoll finished with eleven points for Lasell, going 9-10 from the line, as well as picking up 6 rebounds.  Culver and Kelly added a combined 9 boards for Lasell and Farr ended the game with 7 points, 2 steals, and 3 rebounds.

Lasell returns to league play on Saturday, January 17th at Saint Joseph's College of Connecticut, with a 1:00 p.m. start time.
