Sarah Woodside

Sarah Woodside

Sarah Woodside enters her fifth season as Head Coach of the Lasell University softball team in 2023.

She coached just two games during her first season in 2020 before the season ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She led the Lasers through another COVID-19-shortened season in 2021. The Lasers won their first eight games in 2021, the best start in school history, and earned just their second GNAC postseason berth since 2011.

Three Lasers earned GNAC All-Conference honors under Woodside in 2021. Ally Kirck was named to the second team and Katie Hopkins and Eryn Sheeley were recognized on the third team. This marked the first time that the Lasell softball team received an All-Conference honor since 2016 and the most in one season since 2010.

The Lasers had their most successful season in school history under Woodside in 2023, winning a school record 28 games. They also hosted a home playoff game for the first time in over 10 years, before going on a run to the GNAC Championship Game, the first appearance for the Lasers. Three Lasers were named to the GNAC All-Conference teams that season in Eryn Sheeley, Brianna Gendreau, and Ally Kirck.

A 2007 Lasell graduate with a degree in psychology, Woodside is a former student-athlete for the Laser softball squad. She spent five years on the coaching staff at Wayland (Mass.) High School, including serving as pitching coach for the entire Wayland softball program. Woodside was on the Wayland staff from 2015-19 and with the Wayland youth softball program since 2016. She has also been a Scouting Coach for the basketball program and served as the middle school field hockey coach. She earned her master's degree in criminal justice from UMass Lowell in 2009.

Woodside was recruited to Lasell as a pitcher and became a starter in the outfield. She helped the team to a 24-9 record in 2005, ranking second on the team with seven doubles. The 24 victories that year was a program-best and still ranks second-most all-time.
