MXC: Lasers compete at Trinity Invitational

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Lasell University men's cross country team competed Saturday morning at the Trinity College Invitational at Wickham Park, an eight-team race with some strong squads from across New England.

Junior Zach Kirsch (Winsted, Conn.) was the top Laser finisher, completing the 5K course in 21:46 to place 74th out of 101 competitors. Senior Joan Guzman (Nantucket, Mass.) was not far behind, crossing the finish line in 76th in 22:09. Rounding out Lasell's finishers was sophomore Franklin Torres (Cranston, R.I.) in 31:42.

Tufts University, with a team score of 27, won the meet, edging out Trinity (38) for the team title. Wesleyan University (69) was third, followed by Westfield State (128), New Haven (132), Saint Joseph of Connecticut (167), and Dean College (212). With just three runners, Lasell did not post a team score.

The Lasers will race again next Friday, Sept. 17, at the Saint Joseph Blue Jay Invitational in West Hartford, Conn., beginning at 10:30 a.m.
