MXC: Lasell races at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Lasell University men's cross country team continued the fall season Saturday afternoon at the University of Massachusetts Invitational, a large event featuring more than 35 schools at the NCAA Divisons I, II and III levels.

 

Junior Geralson Withrow (Mystic, Conn.) had an outstanding run for the Lasers, placing 10th out of 167 competitors in the men's five-mile JV race in a time of 28:02. Senior Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) was next across the line for Lasell in 72nd place in 31:35, followed by sophomore Joan Guzman (Nantucket, Mass.) in 85th in 32:49. The next two who accounted for Lasell's team score were David Jean (Malden, Mass.), 93rd in 33:21, and freshman Zach Kirsch (Winsted, Conn.), 99th in 33:38.

Rounding out the Lasell competitors were senior Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.), 104th in 33:53, and junior Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.), 165th in 40:52. The Laser men placed 12th out of 21 teams in the JV race, just behind Fitchburg State University and ahead of Eastern Connecticut State University.

The Lasers will compete again on Saturday, September 28, at the Williams College Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown, Mass.
