Taveras Earns 3rd Place at 2010 Presidents Cup

Newton, MA— Lesley University's men's cross country team took home the first victory of the 2010 season at the 2010 President's Cup, which was hosted by Lasell College at Cold Spring Park, on Saturday morning. The Lynx finished with a combined total score of 29 points in the race which included the top two performances set by Kyle Casiglio and Chris Conforti.  Casiglio set the course record with a time of 17:45, while Conforti finished second with a time of 19 minutes even.

 

The Lasell College men's cross country team finished second in the meet with 37 points and had four top ten finishers.  Miguel Taveras (Lawrence, MA) was the Lasers top runner, taking a third place finish for the men's team at the race with a time of 18:26 on the 5K course. Sophomore Patrick Slight (Franklin, MA) earned a 5th place finish, concluding the course in 18:57 and Raymon Donis (Raynham, MA) and Kristopher McCabe (Kingston, NY) rounded out the Lasers' top ten finishers in 8th and 10th place respectively.  Donis completed the 3.1 mile course in 20:17 and McCabe was close behind with a time of 20:42.

 

For Newbury, Ryan Maliff was the top runner, taking 6th place and ending in a time of 19 minutes 46 seconds.  John Morgan also had a top ten finish, earning 9th place with a time of 20:19.  Newbury finished in third place overall with 56 points.

 

The Lasers return to action on Saturday, September 11th at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island, competing in the Roger Williams Invitational.
