Lasell Men's Cross Country Turns Out Multiple Personal Records at Pop Crowell Invitational

Wenham, MA-- Lasell College faced some strong competition at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College on Saturday, finishing 18th overall in a field of 23 teams. 

 

The University of Southern Maine were the overall race leaders, with all six of their top runners making earning a ranking under the top 30. Southern Maine tallied 87 points, followed by Westfield State University in second place with 94 points, and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) preseason favorites Johnson & Wales producing a third place finish.  The Lasers were the fourth GNAC team in the standings, with Emmanuel and Emerson taking sixth and 13th places respectively. 

 

Lasell's Miguel Taveras (Lawrence, MA) continues to shine for the Lasers, having been the first runner to cross the finish at each of their meets this season.  Taveras set a new season-record at Pop Crowell, running a time of 30:22, just three seconds off his personal-best.  

 

Taveras was followed by fellow sophomore Raymon Donis (Raynham, MA) who clocked a time of 31:04.  Donis' time set a new personal record for the runner, taking 1:26 off his previous time at the Elms College Invitational. 

 

Kristopher McCabe (Kingston, NY) finished in third for Lasell with a time of 31:56 and was followed shortly thereafter by Mikhail Krevosky (Oxford, MA) and Charlie Dilella (). Krevosky took an incredible 3:10 off his previous best, notching a time of 32:34 at Gordon, while Dilella took off an impressive 2:03 from his personal best, finishing four seconds behind Krevosky. 

 

Freshman David Kananowitz (North Monmouth, ME) also continues to improve, taking over a minute off his previous course time.  Kananowitz concluded the meet in 33:02. Nine seconds later, Grant Vantine (Fitchburg, MA) dropped three minutes off of his season-best as he crossed the end line. 

 

Laser junior Michael Isherwood (Warwick, RI) also set a new personal-record on the Pop Crowell course.  Isherwood cut over two minutes off his all-time best, clocking a 33:34 at the meet. 

 

Concluding the meet for the Lasers were Joe Gately (Woburn, MA) and Jeremy Fay (Belchertown, MA).  Gately ran a 35:16 and Fay finished the meet in 45:42.

The Lasers are scheduled to travel to Standish, Maine on Saturday, October 6th for the St. Joseph's College of Maine Runnin' Monks Invitational.
