WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Freshman Brady Mackechnie of the Lasell University men's track & field team put a stamp on his stellar rookie season Friday afternoon, as he recorded a school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.09 during the Division III New England Championships at Williams College.

He currently holds four school records in individual events and two with his team in relay events, featuring the indoor 60 high hurdles (9.51), outdoor 110 hurdles (16.09), outdoor 400 hurdles (59.86), outdoor javelin (44.16), outdoor 4x100 relay (44.72) and outdoor 1,600 sprint medley relay (4:00.86).

"Being able to go out and compete alongside the best 110 hurdlers in the Division III New England Regionals as a freshman was an honor," said Mackechnie. "I am excited for the future and what it has in store."

Mackechnie also earned a GNAC Rookie of the Week award this season. During the 2022 GNAC Championship on Sunday at Colby-Sawyer in New London, New Hampshire, Mackechnie broke school records in the 110 hurdles and javelin, finshing second and fourth overall, respectively, in the two events.

"It was extremely rewarding to see Brady qualify and compete at the Regional level today," said Lasell University Track & Field Assistant Coach Ben Biello. "We had our dreams set on qualifying and it is always a great feeling to achieve it. On top of it, he ran a wind-legal personal record and finished his season on a high note. Brady is a standout student-athlete who has had an amazing impact on this program and will continue to be impactful for years to come. It was an absolute pleasure coaching him this year. I am very excited and honored to have him with us for the next three years."
