Men's Track & Field: Abely, Corson, Ambroise and Mackechnie combine to break school record in 4x100-meter relay

Weston, Mass. – The 4x100 meter relay team of junior Ben Abely (Stonington, Conn.), freshman Max Corson (Peabody, Mass.), sophomore Kadeem Ambroise (Brookline, Mass.), and freshman Brady Mackechnie (East Longmeadow, Mass.) broke the school record with a time of 44.72 seconds and finished in first place for the Lasell Unviersity Lasers men's track & field team as they competed at the Pre-Conference Meet at Regis College Saturday.

The Lasers had a high finish of second in the shot put by junior Richard Barlett (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) as he threw for a distance of 10.65 meters. Sophomore Connor Parker (Rutland, Vt.) finished two spots behind Barlett in fourth with a distance of 9.39 meters. Junior Franklin Torres (Cranston, R.I.) had a best throw of 8.71 meters which was good for sixth place and sophomore Isaac Goldberg (Framingham, Mass.) had a personal best throw of 7.82 meters to finish in ninth.

Parker broke a personal record in his fifth place performance in the discus throwing 27.39 meters just ahead of Torres who finished seventh with a best throw of 24.79 meters.

Parker was also the only Laser to compete in the hammer throw and he finished third in the event with a throw of 25.85 meters.

Barlett broke a personal record with a third place finish in the Javelin having a best throw of 40.16 meters. Right behind him in fourth was Mackechnie with a throw of 39.86 meters. Junior Cameron Deniso (Carborough, Maine) finished sixth in the javelin with a best throw of 35.83 meters and graduate student Jordan Robertson (Warsaw, N.Y.) finished 13th with a distance of 26.22 meters.

Freshman David Massa (Natick, Mass.) finished fourth in the long jump with a best attempt of 5.71 meters closely followed by Corson who had a best jump of 5.06 meters which put him in sixth.

Junior Zachary Kirsch (Winsted, Conn.) was the only Laser to compete in the triple jump and he finished third with a distance of 11.06 meters.

Massa took a second place in the high jump as he finished with a jump of 1.86 meters and Kirsch finished two places behind him in fourth with a jump of 1.48 meters.

The 4x100 meter relay was won by the team of Abley, Corson, Ambroise and Mackechnie with a time of 44.72 seconds. The Lasers had a second team that competed finishing in fourth place was freshman Spencer Villinski (Pittsfield, Mass.), Barlett, Torres, and Parker with a time of 53.54 seconds.

Mackechnie grabbed a win in the 110 meter hurdles as his time of 17.11 seconds was good for first place. Villinski put down a personal best in the event as his time of 17.42 seconds was good for second place. Robertson finished just behind in fourth with a time of 19.86 seconds.

Ambroise finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.11 seconds and finishing in fourth was Corson with a time of 12.30 seconds.

Torres was the only Lasers in the 400 meter dash and he finished it in 1:09:98 seconds which was good for sixth place.

Sophomore Patrick Carbone (Peabody, Mass.) was the only athlete from Lasell to complete in the 800 meter run and he placed fourth with a time of 2:20.23 sceonds.

Mackechnie took another first place in the 400 meter hurdles even finish with a time of 1:00:34 seconds. Finishing in third place in the event was Villinski with a time of 1:05:31 and finishing in 1:10:22 second for fourth place was Robertson.

Ambroise took a second second-place finish in the 200 meter as he finished with a time of 24.29 second. Corson finished in fourth place with a time of 25 seconds flat.

Before the Lasers will be back in action, they will be having their senior day during halftime of the men's lacrosse game on Wednesday, April 27. They will be back on the track on Sunday May 1, when they compete in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships at Colby-Sawyer College.
