Men's Outdoor Track & Field: Lasers break four school records at Penmen Relays

HOOKSETT, N.H. - Freshman Brady Mackechnie of the Lasell University men's outdoor track & field team broke school records in the 400-meter hurdles (59.86) and javelin (42.66 meters) Saturday, as the Lasers broke a total of four program records at the Penmen Relays on the campus of the Southern New Hampshire University.

Mackechnie finished sixth and seventh overall, respectively, in the 400 hurdles and javelin. Richard Barlett tallied a school record in the shot put with a distance of 11.05. During the 1,600 sprint medley relay, Mackechnie, Max Corson, Kadeem Ambroise and Patrick Carbone clocked a school record with a time of 4:00.86, as the unit grabbed a seventh-place finish.

Franklin Torres, Barlett, Cameron Deniso and Connor Parker teamed up during the 4x100 relay, covering the course in a time of 45.76 and finishing sixth. Franklin Pierce won the meet with a team score of 118.

Ben Abely took his talents to the 100 meters (11.58) and finished 10th out of 33 in the preliminaries of the event. He grabbed 12th-place honors during the 200-meter dash (23.70). Mackechnie, Spencer Villinski, Carbone and Ambroise finished seventh in the 4x400 relay (3:54.98).

Corson registered a distance of 5.17 during the long jump, while Barlett represented the Lasers in the javelin (37.30). Parker participated in the shot put with a mark of 8.67.

The Lasers will compete in the pre-conference meet on Saturday, April 23, at Regis in Weston, Massachusetts.
