Men's Track & Field: Three Lasers set personal records at Wheaton Invitational

NORTON, Mass. – Junior Ben Abely of the Lasell University men's indoor track & field team finished fourth out of 15 in the finals of the 60-meter dash (7.41) and tallied a flat track personal record of 24.03 during a fifth-place performance out of 15 in the finals of the 200 meters Saturday at the Wheaton College Invitational.

Freshman Max Corson compiled a flat track career-best time of 25.13 in the finals of the 200 meters. Sophomore Casey Coughlin recorded a personal-record distance of 7.41 meters during the finals of the shot put. Corson also clocked a time of 7.67 in the finals of the 60-meter dash, while tallying a mark of 5.20 in the finals of the long jump.

Graduate student Jordan Robertson finished fifth in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.33 after finishing eighth in the preliminary round of the event (10.55). Robertson finished the finals of the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:03.44.

Junior Zachary Kirsch finished sixth during the final round of the triple jump with a distance of 11.78. He recorded a mark of 5.17 in the finals of the long jump.

Sophomore Kadeem Ambroise crossed the finish line with a time of 7.75 during the finals of the 60 meters. He also competed in the finals of the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 25.54.

Sophomore Patrick Carbone competed in one solo event on the day, finishing as the top Laser in the finals of the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.28.

Sophomore Connor Parker led the way for Lasell in the finals of the shot put (7.56). Sophomore Isaac Goldberg registered a distance of 6.36 during the finals of the shot put.

Junior Franklin Torres tallied a time of 1:09.56 during the finals of the 400 meters.

The Lasers competed in one team event, which was the 4x400-meter relay where they finished fourth with a time of 3:58.35. The four who competed for the Lasers were freshman Brady Mackechnie, freshman Julian Vesneske, freshman Spencer Villinski and Carbone. Villinski recorded a sixth place in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.77 and Vesneske tallied a time of 27.44 in the finals of the 200 meters.

The Lasers will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 26, and Sunday, Feb. 27, when they compete in the New England Division III Championship at Colby-Sawyer in New London, New Hampshire.
