Men's Indoor Track & Field: Lasers break three program records at John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON - Freshman Brady Mackechnie and juniors Zachary Kirsch and Ben Abely set program records Sunday for the Lasell University men's indoor track & field team during the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.

Mackechnie clocked a program-best time of 9.57 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter high hurdles, while Kirsch recorded a school record of 12.89 meters during the finals of the triple jump. Kirsch also suited up for the finals of the long jump, compiling a mark of 5.51.

Abely competed in the finals of the 200-meter dash and covered the course in a program-record time of 23.12. He qualified for the Division III Regional Championship in the 200 meters. Abely was also the Lasers' top-performer in the finals of the 60 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 7.51.

"It definitely was awesome to set a program record and qualify for the regional championship, especially coming off a year of not being able to practice or compete," said Abely. "It was definitely a huge confidence-booster. I am focused on improving every day and continuing to work hard."

Freshman Max Corson competed in three events for Lasell and was the team's top-finisher in the long jump (5.59). The Peabody, Massachusetts, native was the Lasers' second-place performer in the 60 (7.58) and 200 meters (24.45).

Freshman Spencer Villinski finished in the Lasers' second position during the 60-meter high hurdles (9.85), while also recording a time of 26.70 in the 200 meters. Graduate student Jordan Robertson was the unit's second-place performer in the finals of the 400 meters (1:03.37) and also competed in the 60-meter high hurdles (10.50).

Sophomore Kadeem Ambroise took part in the 60 (7.68) and 200 meters (24.90), while sophomore Patrick Carbone was the squad's first-place performer in the 400 meters (59.02). Freshman Julian Vesneske compiled a time of 8.13 in the 60 meters.
