MSOC: Faynstein's hat trick gives Lasers third tie of season

NEWTON, Mass. - The Lasell Men's Soccer team came from two goals down to end today's game against GNAC opponent Dean College in a 3-3 tie. This brings Lasell's record to 1-2-3 for the season and moves Dean to 3-1-1.

Daniel Faynstein (Needham, Mass.) scored the first goal of the game early on at the 3 minute mark with the assist from teammate Koki Matsuwaki (Tokyo, Japan) to put the Lasers up 1-0. Towards the end of the first half, Dean would get two goals in the 36 and 40 minute mark. The first goal was from Reinorf Kusi (Malden, Mass.), who was assisted by Melvin Alves (Brockton, Mass.) and then Brian Allen (Fort Lauderdale, FL.) would score the second goal from an assist by AJ Delgado (Acushnet, Mass.) to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead at the half.

In the 58 minute mark, Alves would net a goal from teammate Sean Doherty (Chelmsford, Mass.) to put Dean up 3-1. Seven minutes later, a costly foul on Dean would bring Faynstein a penalty shot opportunity in which he successfully converted to cut the deficit to 3-2. Then, a costly yellow card by Dean in the 76 minute mark would give Faynstein another chance to complete the hat trick. Faynstein would net another goal to get the hat trick to tie it up 3-3 and eventually force the contest to a draw. 

Both teams recored 12 shots in the contest and Dean led 5-0 in corners.  For the Lasers, goalkeeper Cameron McDonough (Melrose, Mass.) recorded 5 saves and Dean's keepr A. Gonzalez del rio did not record a save today. 

Lasell is back in action on Wednesday afternoon against non-conference opponent Suffolk University where they host the Rams at Taylor Field. Dean is back in action on Wednesday as well when they host Regis College at Grant Field in Franklin, Mass.
