MSOC: Lasers drop non-conference bout to Curry

Newton, Mass. - The Lasell University Men's Soccer team took on non-conference opponent Curry College this afternoon at Taylor Field. 

The Lasers fell to the Colonels by a score of 6-2. The loss brings Lasell to 1-2-1 on the season, while Curry improves to 3-0-1.

The Colonels were the first team to get on the board early as Lucas Drons (Bellingham, Mass.) netted in a penalty shot at 6:30 in the first half. However, Drons was not finished as he scored again 32 seconds later from an assist by Adam Pforr (Weymouth, Mass.) and at the 14:17 mark, Drons would complete the hat trick on an unassisted goal to bring the lead to 3-0 for the Colonels. Pforr would join Drons on the board as he netted in a goal from an assist by Ryan Brady (Weymouth, Mass.) to give Curry a 4-0 lead going into the half.

In the second half, the Colonels would get another goal from Matt Angelini (Foxboro, Mass.), who was assisted by Sean Butler (East Montpelier, Vt.) to make it 5-0. The Lasers would make their way onto the board late in the 80 and 81 minute mark when Daniel Faynstein (Needham, Mass.) would score on 2 unassisted goals to cut the lead to 5-2. Curry would then score 5 minutes later when Butler capped the game off with a goal with the help of teammate Ean McGonigle (Rehoboth, Mass.). 

Curry goalie Kyle Tremblay (Methuen, Mass.) led the game in saves with 6, while Gabrielus Bazikas (Southborough, Mass.) led the Lasers with 3 saves.

Curry forward Lucas Drons now has 10 goals on the season while Faynstein now has 5 goals on the season. 

The Lasers are back in action on September 14th when they travel to face GNAC foe Albertus Magnus. Meanwhile, the Colonels will host Western New England University on September 17th.
