MSOC: First GNAC Contest ends in a tie

NEWTON, MASS - It was the first GNAC contest for the Lasers Men's Soccer program as they battled in a chippy contest with conference foe Anna Maria. Both teams fought very hard throughout the game as it resulted in a tie moving the Lasers to 1-1-1 on the season and for the Amcats of Anna Maria, they move to 0-2-1.

The first half was a scoreless game as both teams clicked on the defensive side of the ball with some shot opportunities that just could not fall through for both teams.

It wasn't until the second half when the Amcats got on the board first when Rubelsi Moran scored on an unassisted goal at 68:32. Then, a minute and six seconds later, Daniel Faynstein of Lasell would even the score with a goal of his own at 69:38, with the assist being from Elisio Nascimento. The Lasers treid to get an opportunity to get a game-clinching goal but Anna Maria goalkeeper David Flores made a crucial save to force the tie.

Flores finished with 6 saves as well as Lasell goalie Cameron McDonough

The Lasers are back in action tomorrow when they face non-conference opponent Curry College at 1pm here at Taylor Field. Meanwhile, Anna Maria will host Lesley on Tuesday afternoon at 4pm.
