Men's Soccer Remains Perfect in GNAC with 5-1 Defeat of Emerson

Boston, Mass. - The Lasell College men's soccer team earned their fifth consectuive Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory, defeating the host Lions of Emerson College 5-1 on Wednesday evening. The victory improved Lasell's overall record to 9-1, and leaves their GNAC record at 5-0. Emerson fell to 3-7 on the year and 1-4 in the GNAC.

Mike Skelton (N. Conway, N.H.) and Kyle Cronin (Weymouth, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals on the night for Lasell, who also got a goal and an assist from Cedric Dybaud (Abijan, Ivory Coast) as well as a pair of assists from Lawrence Fagan (Weymouth, Mass.). Miguel Colmenares (Caracas, Venezuela) went the distance in the net for the Lasers making six saves to earn his eighth victory on the season.

Alex Pappas (Boxford, Mass.)  tallied the lone goal of the night for Emerson, on an Ole Erickson (Asker, Norway) assist. Carter Bowers (Gorham, Maine) played the bulk of the match in goal for the Lions, making 8 saves in 82 minutes of action while earning the loss.

Lasell got on the board early, with Skelton scoring on a feed from Dybaud in the second minute of action to put the visitors on top 1-0. Skelton slotted home a through ball from Nery Guerra (Guatemala City, Guatemala) in the 17th minute to give Lasell a 2-0 edge. Cronin scored his first goal of the match, taking advantage of a great cross from Lawrence Fagan to push the Lasers lead to 3-0 in the 31st minute.

Alex Pappas drew Emerson to with a pair of scores with his goal in the 61st minute making the score 3-1, however Cronin and Fagan hooked up again in the 83rd minute for Cronin's second goal of the match to make it 4-1, and Dybaud produced the final result of 5-1 with his goal courtesy of a Nick Carroll (Meriden, Conn.) pass in the 88th minute.

Emerson will be back in action on Saturday October 6th when they travel to Emmanuel College for a GNAC match. Lasell will visit the AMCats of Anna Maria College for a 11am GNAC Match on Saturday October 6th, before returning home on Monday October 8th for a 3:30 pm GNAC clash with Johnson and Wales.
