Late Break Boosts Lyndon Over Lasell
Lyndon Center, VT — For more than 86 minutes the Lasell College and Lyndon State men's soccer teams played to an impasse before the Hornets won a hard-fought 1-0 decision over the Lasers.

Lyndon goal keeper Jason Gray made 10 saves in his third season shut out, and fifth overall win for the Hornets (5-1-1).  Lasell's goalie Matthew Bruninghaus (Plymouth, MA) secured six saves as the Lasers record drops to 2-3 overall.

The Lasers had the advantage in both halves in shot opportunities, 10-8 in the first period, and a convincing 15-2 in the second period, however neither team was able to gain the upper hand.

Lyndon's late break came with 3:13 remaining in regulation.  In the waning minutes of the contest, Lasell was called for a foul near the midfield line which derived into a direct kick for Lyndon.  Hornet full back Patrick Hilton hoisted a shot which found it's way into penalty box amongst a cluster of Lasell defenders.  In an attempt to head the ball away from the Lasers' net, the ball inadvertently deflected into the visitors net for an own goal which established the 1-0 outcome.

Lasell returns to action on Saturday, September 18th at 2:30 p.m. when the Lasers will travel to St. Joseph's College of Maine to face the Monks.
