Nashua, NH-- On Saturday, October 10th, Rivier College (1-10-0) hosted the Lasell Lasers who came into the game with a 6-3-2 record. The final score of the game was in favor of Lasell, with a 5-1 outcome.
Lasell got off to an early lead when Dan Hatch (Avon, Mass.) scored the first goal of the game only 4:06 into the match. Hatch had an extremely active game by contributing to three out of the five of the goals, by assisting on two others. Hatch's two assists led to goals by Kyle Cronin (Weymouth, Mass.), just 11:46 into the game, and to Zachary Johnson (Westbrook, ME), which came early in the second half at the 47:37 mark.
Lasell had taken eight shots on goal in each half of the game while Rivier only had seven total shots on goal throughout the whole game. The goalkeeper for Rivier, John Jarvis (Henniker, ME) had a busy afternoon with five saves on 16 total shots. Jarvis played well and made some good saves, however this game was dictated by the Lasell attack. Throughout the game, the Lasers consistently put pressure on the defense which could not do much to stop the high potent offense. The Lasers scored two more goals in the game by Mike Skelton (Conway, NH) and Jonathan Klippert (Cumberland, ME) which both came midway through the second half. Skelton capitalized on a penalty kick and Klippert was assisted by Evan Gaccione (Westerly, RI).
The defense for Lasell was strong and led by goalkeeper Julian Dutton (Madison, Conn.) who had one save after playing just over 65 minutes. Rivier managed to score only one goal on the stingy Lasell defense. Chris Nugent (Camberley, Surrey, England) scored off of a penatly kick 80:10 into the game.
Lasell hosts St. Joseph's of Maine on Monday, October 12th at 3:30 p.m. on Taylor Field. The contest marks a battle for first place in the league standings.
