Five Lasell athletes were recognized by the GNAC as weekly honor roll recipients this week. Two women's volleyball players, two women's cross country runners, and one men's soccer player were noted for their overall play during the week ending on September 15th.
From men's soccer, Julian Dutton (Madison, CT) was
recognized for his work as goalkeeper. In a 1-1 week for the
Lasers, Dutton (left) collected 11 total saves and
recorded a shutout against GNAC rivals St. Joseph's ME, coming up
with 5 saves in that game.
Women's volleyball player Danielle Drapeau
(Biddeford, ME) has played consistently well in all 15 sets for the
Lasers this week, as they went 2-3. The Lasers collected
their first win against Lesley University; Drapeau (right,
inset) had 7 kills, 2 aces, 2 digs and 3 blocks. In the
PSU Invitational, Drapeau produced 17 kills, 3 assists, 2 aces, 4
digs and 7 blocks in the two day tournament.
Also selected from the women's volleyball team was Melanie Costa (Ludlow, MA). Costa (far right) was named to the All-Tournament team at the Plymouth State Invitational this weekend because of her all around tough play on the court. Costa had 23 digs in 10 games at the tournament, as well as 2 kills and 3 aces.
Rounding out the honorees this week were women's cross country
runners Kayla McKenna (Warwick, RI) and
Meghan Missett (Lowell, MA). McKenna (far
left) was the top finisher for the Lasers on the women's side
with a run of 23:11.46. McKenna finished at the 48th spot of
176 runners.
Missett (left, inset) placed 71st out of 176 runners in the Smith Invitational. She ran a time of 24:16.25 in the 5k race. She was the second Lasell runner to finish, and cut just under one minute off her previous race time.
