Zach Gagne was named men's soccer Player of the
Week in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference for the second time
this season. Gagne put out quite an impressive performance this
week. Not only did Gagne (right) finish the week with four
goals and two assists in the two games, but he also became the
Lasers leading career point scorer, currently holding 117 total
points in his four year career. Gagne, a 6'0" senior from Somerset,
Massachusetts, currently has 10 goals and 7 assists in the 2008
season for a total of 27 points. In his career, Gagne has fired in
46 goals and dished off 25 assists.
Also receiving honors from the GNAC this week was women's soccer goalkeeper Jamie Remmers. Remmers (left) was honored as the Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time this season. Remmers was chosen after producing two shutouts against tough GNAC adversaries, Rivier College and Suffolk University. Remmers also grabbed 11 saves overall in the two competitions.
A 5'7" senior from West Islip, NY, Remmers has played in 55 games as a Laser, recording 7 career shutouts, 367 saves, and has a 6.67 career saves per game average. So far this season, Remmers has 29 total saves, and only 3 goals against for a .906 save percentage.
Making this week's honor roll for the GNAC were three more Lasell student athletes. Julian Dutton, a junior goalkeeper from Madison, Connecticut was selected for picking up his fifth shutout for the men's soccer team this season. Dutton also came up with 8 saves against rivals Mount Ida College.
Amanda Major, a 5'3", junior, libero from Southbury, Connecticut was chosen to the honor roll from the women's volleyball team. Major had 51 total digs in a 3-0 week for the Lasers. She dug up 35 balls in a match with Rhode Island College, and is ranked 27th overall in the NCAA DIII women's volleyball statistics in digs per game, averaging 5.71.
And finally, Christopher Johnson, a senior from Gloucester, Massachusetts was selected for his performance in the Emmanuel Saints Invititional. Johnson ran a 28:32, which was a new personal best on the Franklin Park Course.
