The Lasers picked up their fifth GNAC win on Wednesday, beating Emmanuel College 4-1 in men's soccer. With this win, the Lasers were bumped back up to the first place rankings in the league, standing at 5-1-0 in the GNAC and 6-5-0 overall.
The Lasers took the lead midway through the first half when Shane Vinnicombe (Pomfret Center, CT) shot past the hosting Saints goal keeper Jeffrey Boughton (Chandler, AZ), off a corner kick from Lasell's Zach Gagne (Somerset, MA). The Lasers kept Boughton busy in the first half, with 21 shots, and retained the 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.
Coming into the second half, the Saints opened with a goal by senior captain Cameron O'Hala (Bristol, CT) with a high shot over goalkeeper Julian Dutton (Madison, CT), to tie the game 1-1.
The tie was broken shortly after when sophomore Kyle Hermenegildo (Rehoboth, MA) scored his first two goals of the season back to back. Hermengildo put the Lasers ahead at 64:59, assisted by first year Kyle Cronin (Weymouth, MA). Just over two mintues later, Hermengildo attacked again when Matt Tieri (Billerica, MA) set him up with a crossed pass, giving the Lasers a 2 goal advantage.
Tholeman Francois (Stoughton, MA) posted the final goal of the game when he blasted a shot past Emmanuel's goalie Carlos Perez (Boca Raton, FL), once again assisted by Gagne. Lasell outshot Emmanuel, 34-3, throughout the matchup, and took home the win.
Lasell continues GNAC competition on Saturday, October 11th, at Suffolk University. The Lasers and the Rams face off at 1:00 p.m.
