Weston, MA - The Lasell men's basketball team dropped their first GNAC game of the season at Regis on Saturday 98-88.
The Pride offense was clicking early on Saturday as they had a 21-11 lead with 13 minutes to go in the first half. The early lead for the Pride however was not long-lived as the 17-8 response over the next four minutes brought the Lasers to within 1, 29-28. After nearly erasing the Pride lead, the Lasers would then get outscored 20-9 in the remainder of the half and Regis took a 49-37 lead into the break.
In the first five minutes of the second half, the Pride extended their lead and opened a 61-41 advantage. While there was still enough time on the clock, a comeback would be difficult to mount. The Lasers did put pressure on the Pride late after chipping away and closing to within 6 in the final minutes, but it wasn't enough as Regis sunk clutch free throws to ice the win.
Brothers Esmer and Andy Madesko each had 24 points on Saturday to pace the Lasers offensively. Conan McCusker (11), Daniel Edmonds (10), and Che Hanks (10) were also in double figures for the Lasers.
Senior Russell Rau for Regis was the focal point on Saturday providing an impressive 30 points, 20 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Up Next - The Lasers will be on the road again on Tuesday evening traveling to the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales.
