Paxton, MA - The Lasell men's basketball team took to the road on Saturday looking to extend their flawless conference record.
The red-hot Lasers came into Saturday winners of six in a row. The Amcats came in having won their last two versus conference opponents. Similar to the women's game that preceded, both teams held leads over the first several minutes as the game found itself tied 13-13, at the thirteen-minute mark. Over the next five minutes though, the Laser perimeter shooting began to heat up as they hit three triples and saw a 15-5 span boost them to a 28-18 advantage. The run was not done there however, as another 10-0 run pushed the Lasers up 20, making it a 25-5 stretch. Going into the final minutes of the first, the Amcats were able to chip into the Laser lead to keep them within striking distance, 45-32.
In the beginning of the second half, the Laser lead was cut all the way down to 6, after the Amcats outscored them 16-9 over the first five minutes. After another 7-2 run, they closed the gap narrowing the Laser lead down to just a point. Having seen their once 20-point lead vanish, the Lasers found themselves back in a tight game and seeking to recapture some breathing room. A 13-2 spurt ensued as they capitalized on the next five offensive possessions and opening a 69-57 edge. From this point, the Lasers held the double-digit lead and fended off the Amcats' attempts at a comeback, capturing a 90-69 road win.
Marcus Lewis and Esmer Madesko continued to showcase their offensive games as they combined for 50 of the 90 Laser points. Andy Madesko was the other Laser in double-digits with 12. As a team, the Lasers were very efficient from behind the arc shooting 12-24 (50%).
Up Next - The Lasers host the Raiders of Rivier University on Wednesday evening.
