Boston, MA - Lasell men's basketball played in Boston visiting the Leopards of Wentworth on Tuesday night.
Lasell has now had 3 of 4 games on the road to start the 2024-25 season but they have had strong showings in each outing. This theme did not change on Tuesday night as yet again they were able to capture a road victory. Early leads have been trivial to the Lasers as they found themselves out to a hot start on the road once again. In the opening five minutes, they held the Leopards to just two points and took a 12-2 lead on a Karim Belhouchet layup. The Leopards however would respond with a 10-2 run of their own to make tighten the game at 14-12. However, a subsequent substitution allowed Senior guard Conan McCusker to check into the game where he swiftly knocked down 2 threes and added a layup, which was part of a 20-2 Lasers eruption ballooning the lead up to 20 (34-14). In this game of runs, Wentworth closed out the half strong as they outscored the Lasers by 14 in the final five minutes of the first half once again cutting the lead down into the single digits.
In the second half, the Lasers held leads of as much as 15 as they tried to put the Leopards away but the Leopards continued to have responses in them in efforts to defend their home court. Bringing the game as close to 3 points down the stretch (82-79) Esmer Madesko iced the game with two clutch free throws putting the game just out of reach. Marcus Lewis led the Lasers in scoring again in this one as he netted 21 points and also added 11 rebounds giving him another double-double on the season. The second leading scorer for the Lasers was Freshman Esmer Madesko who had 17 points and went 8-10 from the line. One of the storylines of the game was the shooting of Conan McCusker however as he provided the spark off the bench which proved crucial in deciding the final result. His 14 points and 4-6 from three were season-high marks for McCusker.
Up Next - The Lasers will travel to the Panthers of Plymouth State on Thursday evening for a 6 PM game.
