Wenham, MA - The Lasell men's basketball team took to the road again Saturday traveling to Gordon College for a non-conference matchup.
Both teams came into the game 2-0 on the season so only one team would come out still undefeated on the year thus far. In the early going of the game, the Lasers got out to a quick start, opening a double-digit lead at the 13:38 mark in the first half with a score of 15-5. Che Hanks was finding his shot early as he had 8 of the Lasers first 12 and helped to fuel the opening run. Gordon however narrowed the gap as less than five minutes later the Lasers looked up to see their lead cut to just 2 after a series of consecutive threes from Gordon's Micah Steely. The game tightened up for the remainder of the half but the Lasers took a 6-point lead into the halftime break. Opening the second half they were able to replicate how they began the game pushing their lead to double digits quickly once again, and after a steal by Andy Madesko and subsequent fast break layup from Marcus Lewis, the Fighting Scots were forced to call a timeout after they fell behind by 16 points. At this point all the Lasers needed to do was hold steady and keep the Scots at bay which they did, not allowing them to cut the lead to less than 10 at any point after and ended up taking a 93-74 win. As mentioned earlier, sophomore Che Hanks had his best performance of the early 2024-25 season with 17 points to go along with 11 assists on the day. Marcus Lewis also had a great scoring night as he went 4-7 from deep totalling 22 points and also chipping in 6 boards and 5 steals. The scoring was very balanced overall though from the Lasers as four others were in double figures: Andy Madesko (13), Cameron Nell (10), Karim Belhouchet (12), and Esmer Madesko (12).
Up Next - The Lasers look to continue their win streak on the road again at Wentworth on Tuesday.
