MBB: Day Leads the Way in Win Over Blazers

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers Men's Basketball team defeated the Elms College Blazers by a score of 87-75. The win brings the Lasers to 5-5 on the season, and 2-1 in GNAC play, while Elms is now 1-10 and 0-4.

The Blazers caught the Lasers off guard to start the game, taking an early 34-17 lead. But the Lasers would go on a 18-5 run to end the first half to close the gap to three. This run included four three-pointers. The Blazers would hold onto a 38-35 lead at the break. EJ Day had 14 points and four assists in the first half, but these totals were just the beginning of what was to come.

The Lasers would come out hot in the second half, using a 15-0 run to take control, with Day scoring or assisting on 11 of those points. The run gave the Lasers an 11 point lead at 55-44. The Blazers would get as close as seven, but the Lasers lead was never in serious danger, as they would go on to win 87-55. Day scored or assisted on every basket in the second half, and of the 52 second half Laser points, he did not play a part in just three of them, all free throws.

Day led the Lasers with 40 points, 14 assists, and seven rebounds. The 40 points were good for the 7th most in a game in school history, while the 14 assists are the second most in a game in school history. Day set the record (18 assists) in his last outing. Overall, Day scored or assisted on 72 of the Lasers 87 points, which follows his performance in the Lasers' last game, in which he scored or assisted on 75 of 90 in the Lasers win against Saint Joseph's (ME).

Quinton Partee Jr. scored 16 points, and finished a rebound shy of a double-double, grabbing nine boards. Conan McCusker also finished in double digits with 13 points.

Up Next - The Lasers will head out on the road for their next game, travelling to West Hartford, CT to take on #1 ranked Saint Joseph (CT). That game will start at 7pm.
