Men's Basketball Posts 113-83 Win at Rivier

NEWTON, Mass. (2/14/17) – The Lasell men's basketball team will head into its final game of the regular season holding a 16-8 record, after a 113-83 victory over Rivier Tuesday evening at Muldoon Gymnasium. The Lasers advance to 13-4 in GNAC play, while the Raiders dip to 2-22 overall and 1-16 in conference.

In just 26 minutes played, senior Armin Omanovic (Wilkesboro, N.C.) dropped 34 points – his third straight game passing the 30+ point plateau- on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor while going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Sophomore Tim Blair (Newington, Conn.) shot just shy of his career-high with 21 points, with seven rebounds and four boards. John Powell (Ashland, Mass.) rounded out double digit scoring for the starters with 16 points, while Yordan Villalon (Miami, Fla) led the Lasers on the glass with 11 rebounds.

The Lasers had a handful of key performances off the bench, as the roster's entirety was utilized in the victory. Dannie Moore (Orlando, Fla.) led the way making all six free throws and 2-of-3 two-pointers for 10 points, while Ryan Jones (North Weymouth, Mass.) scored eight points with six assists and four rebounds.

For the Raiders, senior Kevin Lorden (Cromwell, Conn.) made the most of his final night inside the Muldoon Gymnasium as he netted 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor. Freshman sharpshooter Tristian Givens (Windsor, Conn.), the GNAC Rookie of the Week, went 11-for-22 from the floor and 6-for-12 from three-point range on his way to a team-high 30 points while classmate Keith Poitier (East Hartford, Conn.) finished with 12 points.

The Lasers will host Norwich University in the latter half (1:00) of a GNAC doubleheader on Saturday, February 18, in honor of the three graduating seniors, Omanovic, Powell, and Villalon. Rivier also returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Anna Maria in its season finale.
