Men's Basketball Falls to Top Ranked Falcons 109-90

NEWTON, Mass. (1/17/15) – Top seeded conference contestant Albertus Magnus College defeated Lasell College 109-90 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The loss puts the Lasers at 4-9 (3-5 GNAC) while the Falcons jump to 13-1, continue their perfect GNAC streak at 8-0.

The Lasers scored 57 of their points from the pine, including freshman guards Jamontay Thompson (Apopka, Fla.) and Scott Arsenault (Walpole, Mass.) who each had 13 points, respectively.

Falcons junior guard James Jennings (Bridgeport, Conn. poured in a game-high 26 points, shooting 8-11 from the field and 7-10 from behind the arc. Senior forward Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 boards. Senior guard Elan Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also contributed with 16 points and 10 assists.

Senior guard Tavon Sledge (Spring Valley, N.Y.) added 13 first-half points to go along with seven assists in the frame. Sledge finished the game with 22 points and 11 assists.

Albertus shot an impressive 72.4% 21-29 from the field in the first half. Ljuljdjuraj was 4-4 from the floor in the first half as he contributed with 11 points and seven rebounds in the opening 20 minutes of play. The Falcons shot 64.3% (9-14) from behind the art in the opening half as Jennings was 6-8 from three-point territory to lead the Falcons with 19 first-half points.

Lasell shot 46.5% from the field and 42.9% from three-point territory and out-rebounded the Falcons 38-35.oth teams return to conference action for their next contest.

The Falcons host Rivier University on Monday, January 19th at 3:00 p.m., while the Lasers travel to Anna Maria on Tuesday, January 20th for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
